David B. Johnson, MD

Dr. David Johnson grew up in Lawrence, Kansas, graduated from medical school from the University of  Louisville School of Medicine and then completed his family medicine residency at University of Kansas Medical Center.  He always looked forward to moving back to Kansas after his family moved to Kentucky.

Dr. Johnson believes in a comprehensive approach to medicine.  Each patient is unique not only in their individual medical conditions, but also in their personality and social circumstances.  Knowledge and understanding of all these aspects is essential to assisting his patients with their general health and medical decisions.

Dr. Johnson founded Associates in Family Medicine in 1982 and has dedicated his entire career caring for the community of Kansas City, Kansas and the surrounding areas.  He enjoys treating patients of all ages, especially members of the same family.  Dr. Johnson is a skilled diagnostician and also enjoys providing joint injections, skin lesion removal and is one of a special few physicians who still provide inpatient hospital care.

His most rewarding moments come when making a difficult diagnosis on a complex patient who then responds to treatment.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, playing tennis and swimming for exercise.

Whitney B. Trusty, MD

Dr. Whitney Trusty grew up in Lenexa, Kansas, graduated from medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency with the University of Missouri Kansas City at Truman Medical Center – Lakewood.

Dr. Trusty planned to pursue medicine for most of her life, and she enjoys the challenge that primary care medicine poses. She enjoys caring for patients in all age groups and across all walks of life. She is passionate about educating patients, practicing evidenced based medicine that takes into account the whole person, and helping patients to live healthier and more full lives. She took great joy in working with patients in her residency practice, many of whom have made changes toward better health and she looks forward to caring for the community in Kansas City, Kansas.

Dr. Trusty performs a wide array of procedures including joint injections, skin lesion removal, cryotherapy, long term contraceptive placement and removal (e.g. Mirena, Nexplanon, ParaGuard), endometrial biopsy and others. She will care for patients both in the clinic and in the hospital at Providence Medical Center.

In her free time, Dr. Trusty loves spending time with family, including her two young children, cheering on the Royals and KU Basketball and taking her kids to the Zoo.

Jeffrey M. Schroeder, P.A. – C.

Specializes in Family Medicine

Jeff Schroeder grew up in Buhler, Kansas. He graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. From there, he went on to Wichita State University and graduated in 2010 with a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Jeff worked in rural southeast Kansas for his first four years in practice providing family and emergency medicine. Jeff and his family moved to the Kansas City area in 2014 and have been here since. While new to Associates in Family Medicine in 2016, Jeff has been serving the Wyandotte County area since 2014.

Jeff thoroughly enjoys family medicine due to its encompassing nature and the relationships formed with patients. He enjoys acute and chronic care management as well as takes special interest in wound care. When not working, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, being outside, and golfing.
